Ravindra Jadeja Retires from T20 Internationals Following India’s World Cup Triumph

Ravindra Jadeja, a prominent figure in Indian cricket, announced his retirement from T20 internationals just a day after India’s victorious run at the T20 World Cup 2024. This announcement follows the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, making Jadeja the third senior player to exit the format after the final in Barbados.

Jadeja shared the news through a heartfelt post on his Instagram account, expressing his gratitude and pride in representing his country. “With heartfelt gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 Internationals,” he wrote. “Like a steadfast horse galloping proudly, I have always given my best for my country and others. Formats will continue to do so. Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a highlight of my T20 international career.”. Thank you for the memories, happiness, and unwavering support.”

Throughout his T20I career, Jadeja played 74 matches, including every game in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. Although his role in the World Cup held in the USA and the Caribbean was limited, he scored 35 runs from 22 balls in five innings and bowled 14 overs, taking one wicket at an economy rate of 7.57. His overall T20I stats include 54 wickets with an economy rate of 7.13 and 515 runs at a strike rate of 127.16.

At 35, Ravindra Jadeja has had a distinguished career in the Indian Premier League (IPL), winning four titles—three with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and one with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2008, even before his international debut in 2009.

Ravindra Jadeja has been a versatile player, representing India in all three formats. He will be available for Tests and ODIs, where he has played an important role in 72 and 197 ODIs. In Tests, he scored 3036 runs at an average of 36.14 and took 294 wickets at an average of 24.13. In ODIs, he has 2756 runs at an average of 32.42 and 220 wickets at an average of 36.07. Jadeja is also regarded as one of the best all-round fielders in the world.
