Pakistan’s fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi, has praised Team India for their outstanding performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 final. India clinched their second T20 World Cup title with a thrilling 7-run victory over South Africa in Barbados on Saturday, ending a 17-year wait for the trophy.
Afridi, speaking to reporters in London, acknowledged the high quality of cricket played by both teams in the final. “I watched the match and enjoyed it. Both teams played well, but on the day, whichever team handles the pressure better wins,” he said. “India played extra ordinary cricket and truly deserved the win.”
Reflecting on Pakistan’s performance, Afridi emphasized the need for his team to address their weaknesses after being eliminated in the group stage. “Strong teams compete in the World Cup, and they undergo a rigorous process to get there. We need to correct a few things and work hard, and the results will follow,” he stated.
The T20 World Cup 2024 Team of the Tournament features six Indian players, with Rohit Sharma as the captain and Jasprit Bumrah named Player of the Tournament. Other Indian players in the team include all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, and Axar Patel.
The team also includes three Afghan players: Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Rashid Khan, and Fazalhaq Farooqi. West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran and Australia’s Marcus Stoins complete the XI, with South African paceman Enrich Noortje at number 12
