In an exciting update, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is thrilled to share the news that Otis Khan, a key player in our national team, has officially gained approval from both FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to represent Pakistan.

This significant development opens the door for Otis Khan to play a crucial role in our team as we prepare for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers, Round 2. It’s worth noting that the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) had previously granted clearance for Otis Khan’s eligibility to represent Pakistan.

The PFF expresses sincere gratitude to FIFA and the AFC for their invaluable support in resolving this matter.

Adding to this, Faizan Lakhani for Geo Super reports:

Otis, a pivotal figure in the Pakistan team, was unfortunately unable to participate in the first round of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Cambodia last month due to FIFA’s initial ruling of his ineligibility.

Khan made his debut for Pakistan in a friendly against Mauritius last June. His eligibility is rooted in his paternal grandfather, Kanwar Jamil Mohammed Khan, who was originally from Delhi but relocated to Pakistan after the 1947 partition, ultimately settling in Manchester.

As per the Pakistan government, individuals who migrated from the territories in the Indo-Pakistan subcontinent before the enactment of the Pakistan Citizenship Act, 1951, are recognized as citizens of Pakistan.

The next leg of Pakistan’s journey in the second round kicks off with a game against Saudi Arabia in Dammam on November 16.Following this, Pakistan will have Tajikistan in Islamabad on November 21.

Looking ahead, Pakistan is set to host Jordan on March 21, 2024, followed by a match in Jordan on March 26. On June 6, Pakistan will host Saudi Arabia, and on June 11, the team will travel to Tajikistan for the final game of the round. The top two teams from the group will secure qualification for the third round.
