Cricket Franchises Finalize Trades and Retentions for HBL PSL 2024 Player Draft

As the anticipation builds for the HBL PSL 2024 Player Draft scheduled on December 13 at the National Cricket Academy, Lahore, all six franchises have completed their trades and player retentions.

In preparation for the upcoming season, each franchise was allowed a maximum of eight retentions. Notably, Multan Sultans retained seven players, while all other franchises maximized their retentions.

Defending champions Lahore Qalandars retained their captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, in the Platinum category. Haris Rauf, in the Diamond category, is now the team’s brand ambassador. Sikandar Raza and Rashid Khan were retained in the Gold and Silver categories, respectively, fortifying Qalandars’ lineup.

Two-time champions Islamabad United secured the services of Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah in the Platinum category. Imad Wasim, now the team’s Mentor, and Faheeem Ashraf were retained in the Diamond and Gold categories, respectively.

Multan Sultans retained their captain Mohammad Rizwan and acquired Iftikhar Ahmed through a successful trade with Quetta Gladiators, both in the Platinum category. Ihsanullah, the player of the tournament in HBL PSL 2023, was appointed the Brand Ambassador and retained in the Silver category.

Karachi Kings retained Shan Masood and Shoaib Malik in the Gold category, and the former was traded for left-arm wrist-spinner Faisal Akram. Mir Hamza was retained in the Silver category.

Quetta Gladiators secured the services of Rilee Rossouw in Platinum and Wanindu Hasaranga in Diamond. Jason Roy and Sarfaraz Ahmed were retained in the Diamond and Gold categories, respectively.

Peshawar Zalmi retained Babar Azam and Rovman Powell in the Platinum category. Mohammad Haris, named the Brand Ambassador, was retained in the Gold category.

With the trades and retentions finalized, the stage is set for the HBL PSL 2024 Player Draft, where franchises will make strategic picks to assemble competitive squads for the upcoming season.
