Kylian Mbappe Set to Join Real Madrid in Summer Transfer

Paris St-Germain’s star striker, Kylian Mbappe, has reached an agreement to join Real Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old France captain has communicated his intention to depart PSG as his contract nears expiration in June.

While the deal has not been officially signed with Real Madrid yet, an announcement is anticipated following the conclusion of this season’s Champions League, as the clubs are currently in contention.

Mbappe, who holds the record as PSG’s leading goal scorer with 244 goals, expressed his desire to resolve his future ahead of March. He informed PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his decision to leave for Real Madrid during a meeting on February 13.

Following reports of his departure last Thursday, Mbappe was absent from the starting lineup in Saturday’s match against Nantes but made an impactful appearance off the bench, scoring a penalty as PSG secured a 14-point lead at the top of Ligue 1.

The anticipated deal with Real Madrid is expected to span five years, with Mbappe set to earn €15 million (£12.8 million) per season, along with a staggering €150 million (£128 million) signing-on bonus to be dispersed over five years.Furthermore, he will hold a level of his picture privileges.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has already devised plans to integrate Mbappe into his squad, envisioning the French forward playing a central role on the left, alongside Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr.

Should Croatian midfielder Luka Modric depart this summer, Mbappe is poised to inherit the coveted number 10 shirt for Real Madrid.

As PSG currently leads 2-0 against Real Sociedad in the Champions League last-16 tie, while Real Madrid holds a 1-0 advantage over RB Leipzig, Mbappe imminent transfer marks a significant development in the football landscape.

Mbappe journey to Real Madrid follows his successful tenure with PSG, where he amassed an impressive tally of 244 goals and 93 assists in 291 appearances, contributing significantly to the club’s five Ligue 1 title victories.

Despite signing a two-year contract extension with PSG last season, Mbappe’s decision not to agree to an additional year led to his exclusion from the pre-season tour and subsequent offers from other clubs, including a record-breaking bid from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.

Reflecting on Mbappe’s impending move, former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon praised the acquisition, highlighting Mbappe’s exceptional talent and the promising future he holds with the Spanish giants.
